ISKCON temple to be completed by August-end

BANGALORE. Dec 31.

The Rs.l6 crore International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) temple and cultural complex project, sprawled across seven acres of land in Bangalore, is all set for completion by August end.

Briefing media persons about the project, here, Project Director and Bangalore Centre President Madhu Pandit Dasa. said this would coincide with the centennial year of ISKCON founder Srila Prabhupada. He added that the funds required for the project was being raised in Bangalore itself as the there was a lot of support for the movement here. On the programmes for 1996 he said ISKCON would launch a student spiritual rejuvenation programme. The programme evolved by the Educational Services wing was inspired by Prabhupada's desire and vision to keep Vedic culture alive among students. All High School students in the city would be brought to the temple on Sundays and made to participate in the Sankirtan Yoga Seminar.

Swami Madhu Pandit said the (SKCON planned to rope in 1008 families into the movement from the present I50. by 1996-end through 'Krishna Consciousness at Home'. Earlier, inaugurating the ISKCON Global Prabhupada Centennial programme, former Chief Minister Ramakrishna Hegde said a man's life was complete only if he had performed jnana, bhakthi and karma yogas in his life.

Describing Prabhupada as a true Karmayogi, he said the ISKCON founder disseminated to the entire world, the cultural and ancient practices of Indian tradition. Strongly arguing that intellectual development could never become, the sole objective of an individual, he said 'the seed of destruction would always sprout in the womb of development'. Mr Hegde said mankind could find peace only through spiritual solace.
